SA/NSKK/SS Group Marks

Usually appearing on the reverse lower crossguard, the SA, NSKK, and SS marks were used as a distribution control measure. These marks normally appear on the reverse lower crossguard of pre-RZM daggers. It is not uncommon to find SA marks on daggers with period repainted NSKK scabbards. It is slightly more rare to find NSKK marks on daggers with period repainted SA scabbards. These are understood to be individuals who transferred from one group to another and had the scabbards repainted to match uniform regulations. It is also possible to find early daggers without a group mark. These are considered to be either private purchase daggers or daggers issued after the marks were discontinued.
